The Union of Nova Scotia Indians (UNSI) is a Tribal Council created in 1969 to provide a unified political voice for the Mi’kmaq people of Nova Scotia. The 41-year history of the UNSI dates back to when the federal government introduced the White Paper Policy under then Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, through the 1980s' and 1990's and several landmark legal cases, that have changed the lives of the Mi'kmaq in this province.
