Candy Palmater is a stand-up comedian, public speaker, director of the Mi’kmaq Liason Office in the Department of Education and the educator of aboriginal perceptions training about the Mi'kmaq People.  She  is also very active in Native rights and the gay rights movement. 

 Candy Palmater was the first Aboriginal law student in Canada to be valedictorian of her graduating class, and was president of the Dalhousie Aboriginal Law Students Association.  Candy refers to herself as a “recovered lawyer”.

The Candy Show will be running its third season on APTN this fall. Candy Palmater is a member of the Eel River Bar Mi’kmaq First Nation community in northern New Brunswick
