Compiled by Marie Battiste from interviews done by Elders Roddie Stevens, Eskasoni, and Lillian Marshall, Chapel Island in conversation with Elders - who included Lillian Marshall's father, Noel Marshall.  

Description of the period from December to the beginning of January, `Pestie'wa'taqatimk' and of the activities that occurred, which were both religious and secular in nature.  These activities included prayer, feasting, dancing, storytelling, and song, and included firing of a rifle - a tradition that survived up to the 1930s.
