Gerald Gloade from Millbrook First Nation, Nova Scotia, graduated from Dalhousie University in May of 2008 with an Honours degree in Sociology. After completing an undergraduate thesis on the efficacy of Aboriginal restorative justice he pursued a Masters in Sociology investigating the same topic, but in more detail.
The project, "Coming Full Circle: Redefining 'Effectiveness' for Aboriginal Justice," rethinks how we evaluate criminal justice programs and what constitutes "effective justice outcomes." By employing an Indigenous research paradigm we are able to move away from traditional punitive indicators of success and examine the restorative capacity of programs.
