Exploration of the obstacles to equality for Aboriginal language and knowledge in the education system. Looks at the current attitude to Indigenous language and knowledge, its relationship with 'Eurocentrism' in public schools, and the need for the decolonization of Aboriginal knowledge. Examines the idea of "cognitive imperialism" in the education of Aboriginal students and contrasts Indigenous knowledges and European knowledge. Also looks at recognition by the United Nations of the right to speak a particular language and belong to a particular language family.
